Labour run Exeter City Council have increased your City Council Tax by 4.5% despite the Lib Dems calling for only a 2.5% rise.
Liberal Democrat Councillors attempted to reduce your Council Tax rise by stating that they would take the money out of the reserves - which are far higher than the independent Audit Commission recommends. Sadly Labour and Conservative Councillors spoke against this plan.
The Labour rise was agreed by 14 votes to 12. All Lib Dems voted against this increase but sadly the local Conservatives, who had no proposals of their own, sat on their hands and abstained.
Meanwhile the Lib Dems continue to call the Council Tax to be axed and replaced with the much fairer Local Income Tax.
