Exeter Lib Dems Membership Success

Exeter Liberal Democrats are the fastest growing in the South West - and that's official.
Attending the recent Devon and Cornwall Liberal Democrats Regional Conference, representatives from Exeter Lib Dems were presented with two prizes, one for having achieved the largest % growth in membership over the previous 12 months and the other for the largest growth in actual number of members.
Graham Oakes commented; "This is great news for the local party and just tops off a wonderful 12 months that saw us take control of Exeter City Council for the first time ever. "
It is unusual for a local party to win both the percentage growth prize, which tends to be won by the smaller membership groups and the one for growth in numbers which traditionally has been won by the larger local parties.
"This is a real boost for us, coming at a time when the Conservatives and Labour are steadily losing members. We have even more reason to celebrate as our membership is now even higher and continuing to grow. If we continue to grow then we are likely to be one of the fastest growing constituency parties in England."
"This shows we are on course to do well at next years elections and the General Election - whenever Gordon Brown decides to call it."
