Exeter Liberal Democrat PPC Graham Oakes has called for the abolition of SATS in primary schools. "Running two different sets of tests alongside each other does not aid learning."
"The Government piloted a new assessment scheme to replace the SATS and have now rolled that out across the country. It is therefore logical to finally abolish SATS in primary schools. The position of the NAHT and the NUT is a sensible one, running two systems again next year is unnecessary and shouldn't occur - it's not in the children's interest."
"Ed Balls attack on the Unions is a misjudgement and he should know that Head Teachers never respond well to threats."
"The government seem more interested in testing than in children learning."
