St James: Dismay at planning consent

November 1, 2009 10:00 AM

Cllr. Natalie Cole outside the Lions Holt Off LicenceSt James ward City Councillors, Natalie Cole and Kevin Mitchell have reacted with dismay and anger at the Planning Committee's decision to approve an application to convert the Lions Holt Off License in Well Street into flats.

Cllr. Natalie Cole came and spoke against the application and Cllr. Kevin Mitchell who sits on the Planning Committee voted against the officer's recommendation for approval.

Sadly the vote was tied at 4 votes all, after 2 Councillors abstained and this led to the Chair of the committee Cllr. Yolonda Henson using her casting vote to approve the application.
