Give Us 'A Fair Deal'

Back Kevin and Michael's campaign for a fair dealFor every new development, developers give a financial contribution goes towards mitigating their impact upon communities. Most of this money is placed in a central pot and has been used by the City Council to assist with major projects, such as St Sidwell's Point. 15% of the fund should go to a Community Pot.

Since 2019, 12 purpose-built student accommodations have been constructed in Duryard & St James, totalling over £5.7 million. This means we should receive a Community Pot £866,500. However, we have only received £23,850.

Local Lib Dems, Cllrs Kevin Mitchell and Michael Mitchell, are standing up for local residents by calling upon Exeter City Council to clearly set out how it is engaging with neighbourhoods to match their priorities, including ones set out formally in local plans. The money could be spent on creating a much needed community hub in Duryard as well as improving parks and public toilet facilities.

Duryard and St James deserves better from the Labour-run City Council.

Add your name below to call upon Exeter City Council to review its policy to greater ensure the needs of communities with new developments, such as Duryard & St James, are addressed.

Let's Give our NHS Workers a Decent Pay Rise!

Nurse with family

In its budget the Government has decided it wants to thank the NHS workers, who have put themselves on the front line throughout this pandemic, by giving them a pay cut in real terms. A paltry pay rise of 1% means nothing when prices are expected to rise 1.5% (Office for Budget Responsibility). NHS workers have gone above and beyond to keep us all safe and get us vaccinated, they deserve the country's thanks and a decent pay rise, not a cut.

Devon Lib Dems are calling on the Government to give our NHS workers a proper and substantial real terms pay rise now! Time to recognise the sacrifice and hard-work of the NHS.

Sign our petition to demand a decent pay rise for NHS workers.

Stand up for carers

Carer ImageCarers - paid and unpaid, young and old - do a remarkable and important job.

They deserve our support but are far too often forgotten and ignored. Liberal Democrats will stand up for carers and lead the way to a more caring society as we emerge from this pandemic.

This starts by raising Carer's Allowance for unpaid carers by £1,000 a year.

Sign our petition to support our carers.
