Michael Payne

Mike moved to Exeter in 2002 to study at the University (as a mature student). His aim was to obtain a degree with the ultimate goal of becoming a teacher. He feels extremely fortunate to have benefited from a first class education in a state school in the UK and was inspired to try and pay back some of the debt he felt he owed. Whilst he successfully completed his degree, he subsequently discovered that he is not cut out to be a teacher!

In the meantime however, he fell in love with the South West generally, Exeter specifically and most importantly his wife Charlotte (from Somerset). Mike believes that Exeter is an outstanding city and will do everything he can to ensure that it stays that way.

He lives on the edge of the Pinhoe ward, and is employed as a mobile service technician covering Devon and Cornwall. One of the ways in which he tries to support the people of Exeter is in his role as a volunteer Street Pastor.
