Smashing Election Results for Devon Lib Dems

A smashing set of local election results for Devon Lib Dems: gaining South Hams, Teignbridge and Mid Devon councils, winning North Devon, and making significant gains in East Devon, Exeter and Torridge.

In addition to our amazing result of a gain and a hold in Exeter, Lib Dems have been smashing it across Devon and the country.

In Devon alone, we gained 52 cllrs, including +10 in East Devon, meaning we won 147 on the night. Whilst Labour only gained 8 and the Conservatives lost 47, taking them down to 103.

Lib Dems now run 4 district councils in Devon (South Hams, Teignbridge, Mid Devon, and North Devon). Combined with stunning victories in Somerset and Tiverton & Honiton last year, we are well and truly back in the South West!

Across the country, we have built on our very good 2019 performance (when most of these seats were last up for election) with over 400 more councillors. Whilst the Tories have lost more than 1,000!

It’s clear voters are fed up with the Tories and unimpressed by Labour. So many are grateful for a party that actually endeavours to listen

3 particular highlights include:
🔶Gaining 22 Cllrs on Mid Devon council to switch it from Tory to Lib Dem control
🔶Winning South Hams council for the first time ever
🔶Flipping Windsor and Maidenhead from Tory to Lib Dem just in time for the coronation concert at Windsor Castle!

Rishi Sunak is just keeping the seat warm – he has to call a general election soon!
