Liberal Democrats choose Mike Payne as their candidate for the Pinhoe By-election
Exeter Liberal Democrats have chosen Mike Payne to be their candidate in the City Council Pinhoe By-election to be held on Thursday, 13 August.
About Mike:
I moved to Exeter in 2002 to study at the University (as a mature student). My aim was to obtain a degree with the ultimate goal of becoming a teacher. I am extremely fortunate to have benefited from a first class education in a state school in the UK and I was inspired to try and pay back some of the debt I felt I owed. Whilst I successfully completed my degree, I subsequently discovered that I am not cut out to be a teacher!
In the meantime however, I had fallen in love with the South West generally, Exeter specifically and most importantly my wife Charlotte (from Somerset). I believe that Exeter is an outstanding city and I will do everything I can to ensure that it stays that way.
I live on the edge of the Pinhoe ward, and I am employed as a mobile service technician covering Devon and Cornwall. One of the ways in which I try to support the people of Exeter is in my role as a volunteer Street Pastor.
