Councillor Hannaford paints an alarming picture of the culture within the ruling Labour group of Councillors - a group that is clearly divided and unable to work cooperatively together.

In addition, there is a rising perception amongst many residents in Exeter that Labour aren't listening or acting in the best interests of the city. It feels like Labour are in meltdown.

By contrast, while from two different political backgrounds, Liberal Democrat and Green Party councillors are working cooperatively together and providing effective opposition on the Council.

The Progressive Group is holding Labour to account and putting forward our own positive ideas on housing, climate action and budget amendments.

There is now the very real prospect of Labour losing overall control of the Council in May. As Progressive Group councillors we stand ready to step up from opposition to having real decision making powers to lead the future direction of the city.
